Pitbull Lays It Down: Seven “Secrets” For A Successful Life

With a name like “Pitbull” you’d probably expect this guy to beat you down rather than lift you up. Despite the fierceness of his stage name in the testosterone-driven, hyper-masculine world of hip hop, Armando Christian Perez is proud to be a momma’s boy.

In fact, Pitbull has made it his mission to spread the gospel of self-improvement and self-actualization. Basically, everything

his mother taught him which has allowed him to reach the dizzying heights of success in the cutthroat world of hip hop.

While many rap stars, having made it big, will turn their back on the ‘hood and disappear into their mega mansions and Lear jets, Pitbull credits his mother with helping him to never forget where he came from and to give back wherever possible.

Named People Magazine’s Most Influential Latino in the World in 2015, Pitbull has made a point of putting his philosophy into action. He made headlines when he enrolled underprivileged and underachieving kids from his hometown in SLAM! Academy. Pitbull prides himself on being a co-founder of the Miami-based charter school, which to date has a ninety-five percent graduation rate among its students.

And what is Pitbull’s secret formula for success? The big secret lies in the fact that there’s no secret to it at all. The rapper says the “secret” lies in inspiration and application. Pitbull’s mother provided the necessary inspiration. The application of the lesson, he says, must come from the person seeking out their dream.

Here’s everything you need to get you started on the road to wealth and happiness, all courtesy of Pitbull’s momma:

LESSON #1

·         Most of us are blessed to live in the U.S.; a country that offers us almost unlimited potential for creating wealth, prosperity and personal happiness. So, take full advantage of every opportunity.

LESSON #2

Take advantage of your freedom to control your destiny. Ben Franklin once said “there will be plenty of time to sleep in the grave.” So, take charge of your life and go for what you want. Now! Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Action has genius, power, and magic in it.

LESSON #3

·         The two biggest diseases in the world are ignorance and greed. When is enough, enough? Isn’t the world big enough to tolerate ideas and ideologies that are different from our own? Or, as Pitbull would say “Send people into the world who will come back and make an educated decision”

LESSON #4

·         “If it’s too good to be true, it probably is.” Enough said. Word!

LESSON #5

·         Money is a passport. It allows you to come and go; it doesn’t make you who you are. In other words, “let the journey drive you.” Ask any billionaire and they’ll tell you. The secret to true success and personal happiness lies in the journey, not the destination.

LESSON #6

·         The best education you can have is to travel the world and inspire others from different cultures. Or, as Pitbull is fond of putting it: “When you see kids from the shanty shacks in South Africa and can tell them they can be a doctor in the U.S., they turn into pitbulls.” They become tenacious. Driven. Determined.

LESSON #7

·         Pasos cortos vista larga: “Short steps, long vision.” Proceed cautiously, but always have a plan of action in mind. Remember: those who fail to plan, plan to fail.
